Kiddos

We are in Laredo visiting Grandma and Grandpa.  Grandma asked if I would help her learn to use her camera.  So, we took the kids out for little photo session.  Here is a photo of each of them that I took this morning.  I have such cute kiddos. 🙂

Snug as a Bug

(Brian) Miss Olivia is a Harry Potter fan.  Actually, she’s a fan of any movie that’s playing.  Put on a movie and she can’t help herself – she has to sit down and watch.  Although we have a television, we don’t have TV (no cable, no antennae), so movies are a treat in the evenings, after homeschool and dinner.  Tonight it was HP3, and she was enthralled enough that between Michelle and me, we got about ten of these.

Morning Devotional

Each morning we begin school with our morning devotional.  We start by singing a song from the selection the kids will be singing in the primary program, then we have prayer, and then we study our scriptures.  We are studying the New Testament right now.  For my non-LDS friends, we use the King James version.  We first read the story out of the kids scripture readers.  Then we mark the verses in our New Testaments.  After they are marked we read the actual verses aloud.  I have found that this helps the kids understand the story as well as teaches them to comprehend the writing style of the Bible.  After we are done reading, the boys do the pages from their workbook that pertains to the chapter we read.  While the boys are doing their workbook pages, Olivia usually moves on to something else.  Today it was reading.  Have I mentioned I <3 homeschooling!! 🙂

(You’ll notice Caleb stops to give me a smile!!)

Almost A Missionary

Taylor needed a photo for his missionary paperwork, so we stepped outside and snapped a few.  It’s exciting as his time is drawing close.  He has his physical this week, then the paperwork is complete and ready to be turned in.  We are very excited to find out where he will be serving.  Brian thinks he will go to Brazil.  I told him he will go to Japan, because that is where I was born.  Of course he’ll probably end up going to Boise Idaho!!!! 😉  Here he is, our soon to be missionary.
