Birthday Time!!!

This past weekend we had two birthdays at our house.  Both Brian and Caleb had birthdays on Saturday.  We had lunch at Red Robin and then came home for presents and, as usual, mint ice cream cake.  What can I say, it’s a family favorite.  Caleb picked blue and yellow for his colors, so I used food coloring to make the cake blue.  However, I kinda went the lazy route on the decorations.  While at Walmart I saw some cute CARS 2 decorations.  I figured, why not??  Brian didn’t mind. 🙂  Caleb thought they were cool.  He actually got some CARS Legos for his birthday as well as a Lego STAR WARS ship, and Lego HARRY POTTER castle.  Yes, it was a Lego birthday….again. 😉 Here are the two birthday boys…

Caleb’s Big Day

Caleb will be turning 8 on November 19th.  He is very excited.  One of the great things about turning 8 is that he will be baptized.  I am making up some invitations for his big day and wanted to take a special picture for them.  It is very overcast today, and because of Caleb’s sensitive eyes, it was a perfect opportunity to get an outdoor photo.  He donned his Sunday best and we drove over to the Temple.  By the time we got there it had started raining.  We waited until it stopped, and then hopped out to grab a picture.  I was only able to get 4 pictures because, naturally, it started raining again.  It’s ok though, we got a keeper.  Here he is, my big, soon to be, 8 year old. 🙂

Plugging Along

This is our second year homeschooling.  We are still learning as we go, trying to find out what works best for us.  We have our good days, and our not so good days.  Today started a bit rocky trying to get chores done, but once we went into the classroom, everything fell into place.  I have to say I am LOVING our classroom. 🙂  It definitely sets the right mood.  The kids just know when we enter, it is time to get to work.  That does not mean, however, that they work fast.  Hunter definitely works at his OWN pace.  Nothing I say or do will speed him up.  He’s funny that way. 😉  I printed out writing pages for Olivia, and she is loving them.  She is so funny to watch.  She is very focused when she works.  She also wants me right there so I can see her work when she completes it. 🙂  Caleb just plugs right along.  He likes to get his work done.  In between subjects he likes to step out and play while he waits for Hunter to catch up.  I love my kids, and I love be able to spend so much time with them!!  I never thought I would be a homeschooling mama, but I really do love it. 🙂
