Birthday Party for Hunter and Olivia

Yesterday we celebrated both Olivia and Hunter’s birthdays.  Since we combined their parties, we decided to go with the colors purple and orange.  This year I decided to try some new things.  I made popcorn boxes and Brian was able to find purple and orange popcorn at the last minute for me.  He is always my “knight in shining armor”. 🙂  I also bought a cute little backpack template from Sweet Shoppe Designs.  I used the backpacks to hold the treats for the kids.  I went the lazy route and ordered purple and orange cupcakes from Walmart.  I had to many other things I was working on. 😉

I think both the kids had a lot fun.  We started the day with a trip to see Harry Potter 7 part II.  They all loved it.  Next we had lunch at IHOP, as requested by Hunter.  Then we headed home for some presents and cake.  It was a good day. 🙂

The 4th of July

We had a pretty quiet 4th of July at our house.  Taylor worked a 12 hour shift at the Rib Crib, so we didn’t see him at all. We took the other kids to the movie to see Kung Fu Panda II.  We all enjoyed it.  Then a little later, we went out to take a few photos.  Our trip was cut short by rain.  It didn’t rain very much, or for long, but it cooled the air outside by about 20 degrees, so it was enjoyed.  Lastly, we headed out to watch the Yukon fireworks.  Neither Brian nor I thought to bring a camera though.  Perhaps we will do better next year.

Here are a few photos I was able to take.  The pictures of Olivia I actually took on Saturday.  Each month on my computer desktop I feature a calendar with a picture of one of the kids.  Since it is Olivia’s birthday this month, I wanted a picture of her.  Since it was also our nation’s birthday, I wanted an Independence Day theme.  So, Brian and I took her out to try and get just one good photo.  I think we actually got quite a few, but you can judge for yourself. 😉

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!!!

Father’s Day

I wanted to post some pictures from yesterday afternoon.  As is our tradition, I took a photo of Brian with each of the kids.  Brian is not much for getting his picture taken, so I only took one and made it as painless as possible. 😉

As you can see, Taylor was out like a light while we were taking pictures.  He did NOT want to wake up. 🙂  So, we took a picture of him and Brian anyway!!  I’m sure he will LOVE it. 😉

The kids and I are so blessed to have Brian.  He is a wonderful husband and father, and we love him very much!!

Looking Back

I love looking back through old pictures.  It always surprises me just how many pictures I had forgotten about.  While going through them tonight, I found this little gem.  As you can see by her Halloween dress, it was taken last October.  I love this picture because of how much I love her bright little eyes.  She has had the same bright eyes since she was just a little baby, and I am continually amazed by how much  my little Olivia is growing up.

The Joy a Sprinkler Brings

The other day when Brian and I ran to the store we picked up some sprinklers for the kids to play in.  Our others were a bit beaten up.  The kids have been anxious to play in them since we brought them home.  So, this afternoon they headed out for some fun.  I stepped out to grab a few pictures of them.  It’s amazing how much fun a simple sprinkler can be. 🙂
